The O2 is a double olympic distance race. That means: 3000 km swim, 160 km bike, and finishing with a 20 km run .I was excited about this race because the swim portion (my strength, or where I get a leg-up) is much longer than the other sections of the race compared to say a half Ironman. It was my longest race to date, and I was ready for the challenge.
The race is held inChungnam, South Korea. It is a quiet, small town with not much to do; Seoul Tri set us up in a small hotel and had every meal planned out for us. (As usual Kristin and the boys drove down with me on Saturday.) We did not have much time to explore the area, due to pre-race check-in, dinner, you know, the essentials. .. Anything you did different leading up to the race since it was longer?
The morning of the race was extremely foggy, drizzling, which allowed for some great temperatures. Unfortunately, you could not see but 300 meters out of the swim course. Due to the length of the race, there were 2 separate transition areas...
This is a work in progress, please bare with us as we finish up!
